Friday marked eight years since Double Played came out into the world! Eight years.... granted most of those years were in my twenties, but I think about how different my life was back in August 2016 and I thought it would be fun to look back on what my life was like back then.

In August 2016

• I had been single since high school
• I was working on Congressional campaigns
• I had just moved to Austin three months prior
• My Hyundai Sonata had no A/C (actually it's junk now, so I guess it still has no A/C)
• I didn't own a Kindle
• Actually, I didn't read that much because I was so stressed from working in politics
• didn't listen to podcasts or audiobooks
• I was living with my grandparents
• I was very optimistic that I would be writing full time by the time I was thirty, whoops.

Nowadays

• I've been in a relationship for almost five and a half years
• There's been a global pandemic that really changed so many things, personally and for everyone
• I'm not working in politics and I now work in sales for a start up. I like to joke that if I was good at sales, I'd be writing novels full time by now.
• I own a different Hyundai, my baby blue Elantra (she's not actually baby blue, but she's the only asset I own these days, so she's my baby).
• I mostly just listen to podcasts these days. I try to get a few audiobooks in but life lately is just not audiobook friendly
• I love my kindle. Though I would love if Apple came out with an e-ink reader, too. My iPad just ain't the same but I do buy books from Apple when they're on sale.
• I now live with my partner in a cute little townhome in Northwest Austin.
• Definitely not making it as a full time author, but that's okay. Maybe by forty.

Here we are

Eight years since my sophomore novel came out, next year will be ten since my debut novel came out and it's been two years now since I fully published a novel. The days are long but man the years do fly by fast.
